Welcome to Swinhope Labradors & German Shepherds
We have been established breeders of black, yellow / fox red and chocolate labradors and German Shepherds for more years than we care to remember. Puppies are frequently available, all bred from healthy parents not only of superb quality from long-established proven bloodlines, but also with wonderful temperaments, a factor on which we place great importance. Over the last several years we have had many requests for Labradoodles. We have decided after a lengthy investigation and numerous chats with our vet, we shall during 2015 be having our first litter of Labradoodles. If you would like to enquire about current or future availability of any of our breeds, please give us a call or just complete the form in the contact page and we'll get back to you.
We also have our beloved horses which we do occasionally sell. Click here to see them

Blackcleugh Bastle nestles in a fold high in the stunningly beautiful Northumbrian Pennines. It is a 12th century fortified farmhouse and with its mossy stone slab roof and rough hewn sandstone walls squats in the landscape as if it has grown there.
The air is filled with the sound of Curlew and Lapwing. Black grouse are a common sight in the upland fields and water vole populate the burn, where orchids, wood anemones and wild violets grow abundantly.
Here we breed beautiful Labradors, Labradoodles and German Shepherds

Our small farm is in the Higher Level Stewardship Scheme. There is only one percent of ancient unspoilt meadows remaining in England. We work very hard indeed with Natural England to ensure the diversity in our fields are maintained and improved upon where possible. None of the fields have ever been ploughed or re-seeded and are completely organic. We have nineteen acres which have been designated S S S I Sites of Special Scientific Interest. We are very fortunate and privileged to own a piece of British heritage. It is so important to us to ensure we look after the land for generations to come.
The fields are filled with wild flowers. In the spring the primroses and wood anemones arrive, their fragile heads nodding in the icy winds. These are followed by swathes of wild violets, marsh marigolds, water avens, orchids, stitchwort, ladies smock and ragged robin.
Foxgloves line the walls and the thistle like heads of knapweed blow in the wind. Later meadowsweet, harebells and dog roses appear together with a blue carpet of field scabious competing with the blue skies of high summer.
The wild flowers are quite breathtaking and together with the Curlew, Lapwings, Black Grouse and Water Voles, it really makes Blackcleugh our very own little piece of paradise.
